A LaunchPad™ placed on a suitable desk or table with a full size high-definition video display, quality mouse, keyboard and document camera/webcam will provide an optimal workstation for on-line learning, studying and completing homework. With the low cost of the LaunchPad™ and these standard peripherals, it can also be very cost effective. The LaunchPad™ is compatible with printers that support remote networked printing such as Brother and Canon.

Sentinel Computers has put a special emphasis on academic productivity. To start, your child can use the system more productively and ergonomically with a full-size keyboard, mouse, full 1080p high definition display and document scanner/webcam (peripherals not included). The LaunchPad supports up to two high definition displays for even higher productivity.

Study Desktop, Guided Instruction and Online Learning
During Education Modes the Launchpad™ can be used in place of a Chromebook laptop with access to Google Classroom and online learning/videoconferencing sites such as Zoom. The LaunchPad™ includes a rich set of applications and capabilities preinstalled including the Google Chromium web browser and the full LibreOffice Suite with Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Drawing, Database and Slide Presentation applications compatible with Microsoft Office.
Study Desktop and Study Desktop + Focus Modes
Provides a familiar but simplified computer desktop (dual screen capable) for researching, writing and learning. This mode restricts access to video streaming, gaming and social media sites. This mode also restricts access to the Media Player app so that downloaded videos cannot be watched. Audio can also be globally disabled in this mode if listening to music or podcasts are problematic. Study Breaks and a Meditation App encourage a user take a helpful break to improve focus and remain on-task for increasingly longer periods of time. Restricted Content Access allows the user to request, through an automated process, web pages that are ordinarily restricted. This allows parents to preview the requested site before approving. Study Desktop + Focus mode provides the same Study Desktop however only audio from a preset audio stream source (such as Brain.FM) designed to enhance focus and attention is allowed.
Guided Instruction Mode
Desktop similar to the Study Desktop modes with a special locked down Guided Instruction screen with a curated list of age-informed websites teaching academic subjects – all without distractions. These sites include free academic sites from major universities and colleges. In addition to the sites suggested by Sentinel Computers, parents can add up to 8 additional sites all users can access from this mode.
Online Learning and Online Learning Zoom Modes
Offers a desktop similar to Study Desktop Mode with web access only to Google and videoconferencing sites like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. These modes also features the full LibreOffice suite compatible with Microsoft Office.
Study Reports
While School and Classroom portals are convenient, kids and parents often fail to keep track of their school assignments. This feature, used with Daily Entertainment Enable, creates a process where children must write down their school work assignments for the day and confirm they are complete. Parents receive a notification before verifying and then enabling Entertainment modes for the day.
Parental Monitoring Can Help Keep Students on Task
Real time monitoring and settings updates allow parents to remotely view time-stamped screen images captured either on-demand or automatically at a set interval Parents can even remotely message a user directly on the LaunchPad™ to help encourage on-task work and if necessary kick the user off the system completely.
Academic Bonus Rewards Better Grades
Academic Bonus feature allows parents to automatically reward additional Entertainment time for better grades in school. After an easy setup, parent simply update their child’s grades in the Sentinel Web Portal and time is either added or removed based on Grades. Helps keep kids motivated without the arguments.
Online Learning Modes screen captures are blurred for privacy however parents can easily identify off-task activity.
